VR gaming - immersive and realistic graphics that transport you to another world!

Virtual reality gaming isn’t just an emerging trend, it’s the next big thing in the computer gaming industry. If you think about it, people have been playing computer games since the 80s - that’s an entire generation of gamers! The games that these gamers grew up with were simple by today’s standards and the graphics were basic, but they were enough to keep players entertained. Fast forward to 2015 and we see graphics on par with Hollywood blockbusters in the latest video games and VR technology that transports us into entirely new worlds... and all this in the palm of our hands!

What is VR

Virtual reality (VR) is often referred to as a three-dimensional digital environment that can be explored and interacted with by an individual. A person using virtual reality equipment is able to look around the artificial world, move about in it, and interact with features or items that are depicted on screen.

The technology functions by stimulating the senses of sight and sound. By combining that with the input from a game controller, you get this feeling of being inside these worlds. From racing games where you feel like you're in the car speeding down a racetrack to horror games where you jump at every movement and cower under your desk, VR has some pretty exciting possibilities for gameplay.

But what really makes VR so appealing? What sets it apart from other types of video games?

Who invented this device and when?

The virtual reality headset was invented by Palmer Luckey and John Carmack. The first prototype for this device was developed in March of 2012, and it has been developed further with John Carmack's help.

Advantages of using these glasses

- The player can feel as if they are actually inside the game, which can make gameplay more immersive and exciting.

- The user's movements are tracked, so they can interact with their surroundings or other players.

- It can be used as a teaching tool to help students explore concepts in science and math.

- It enables people who may not be able to get out of their homes due to illness, injury or disability to enjoy a number of activities from cycling to playing tennis.

How popular they are now

VR gaming has been rapidly growing over the past few years, which makes sense because they are so much fun! You can play them on your phone or on a screen. You can even get headsets that you wear that have a screen right in front of your eyes. The only problem with this is you have to be connected to a power source. They are also pretty expensive, but I think they're worth it because they make video games feel so real and like you're really there.
